Lighting a North Yorkshire Country HouseThe brief for this project was to create the warmth and elegance of a luxury country hotel. These photos give you a flavour of the house, and in particular demonstrate how the lighting design and the lighting control system work together to effortlessly change mood and focus.

The kitchen is stunning but has a relatively low ceiling for the size of the room. A conventional grid of downlights would have made the space appear dull, flat and oppressive. Getting light up on to the ceiling visually raises the space but the only fixing point for a wall light was the pillar in the centre. We used the pillar, the bay window ledge and a very focused beam on to the polished granite island in order to bounce light up on to the ceiling, and give it vibrancy and life. Carefully positioned downlights around the room perimeter wash light down the oak units, and low level LEDs wash light across the stone floor.

Rako lighting control gives easy scene control and overall house control benefits.  RTI control integrates the lighting control system with the house's multiroom audio and video setup.
