Lighting Case Studies
Lighting Menu
The lighting in this small Yorkshire Dales cottage had to complement the house’s immense character and also be relatively discrete and simple. Ground recessed lighting was used in a couple of areas to great effect.
The floor is an often overlooked fixing point but it is often the best place to light from for both aesthetic and practical reasons: in the corridor for example wall lights were impractical because they would have projected too far, and ceiling lighting would have been both visually obtrusive and made the low ceiling seem lower and oppressive. Ground uplighting accentuates rather than fights the beams.
