A full project management service was required for the interior design of this extensive Georgian country house in the heart of Yorkshire. Full room schemes included: detailed plan layouts, cabinet designs, details of surfaces for walls and floors, design of window treatments and seating solutions.

This Grade II listed property created numerous design challenges with its window positions, placement of radiators and strong architectural details.

The Study

This space had originally been used as a cloakroom for guests visiting the house. The clients were wanting the room to be redesigned to include an office area, but the design had to maintain provision for the hanging of coats. The positioning of the doorways and the shape of the room necessitated a carefully considered proposal in order to ensure that the end result was inviting and comfortable.

A scheme was produced which included sympathetically designed cabinets and bookcases. Restoration of an existing fabric for its reuse within the new study dictated the final cabinet colour and proposed wall coverings.

The shape of the arched window was maintained with the introduction of a lambrequin style pelmet with a neat Roman blind behind.  Finally, the glass pumpkin style pendants create a warm ambient light and cast a soft pattern onto the ceiling.

The style of the design meant that existing furniture and paintings could be placed into the room and all the elements worked seamlessly together giving the impression that they have always coexisted thus creating the perfect timeless design.
