In designing this Home Cinema system, we had the benefit of being involved from the early construction stage. The room has to fulfill more functions than simply being a cinema room, it's a space for the band to rehearse as well so our client wanted a discreet cinema installation. The room features an acoustically treated front wall with flush mounted Genelec monitors and sub-woofer. The whole wall is covered with an acoustically transparent fabric giving both a great aesthetic effect with amazing audio performance. The Projector is a 1080p model from Planar and the whole room including the Rako lighting and blind control is controlled via a single RTI T2C remote control. |

One of the features of smart home systems is that they are accessible from anywhere. In a second home this can have huge benefits for the client. This house on the Yorkshire coast has a multiroom audio / video system, a central DVD and CD server (and it's a great holiday DVD collection), Rako lighting control and intelligent heating control. Overall system control is provided by AMX and we've interfaced with the different sub-systems to allow remote access and management. In practical terms, our clients can monitor the house for security purposes. They can tell the house they're coming (via the web or SMS) and when they get there it's ready for them. Temperatures are right, the hot water's on, even the towel rails are at the right level. When our client leaves they put the house into its "leaving" profile and the whole house settles back for another week of inactivity. Simple, practical, brilliant. |
