Turn it on and you're face-to-face with radiant 1080p (1920 x 1080) HD resolution, dazzling AM TFT-LCD technology and stunning video processing, combined with the convenience of dual HDMI (with HDCP) inputs, along with two HD compatible component video inputs and four further independent video inputs. Digital and analogue audio connectivity is also provided greatly simplifying video component integration.
The PD420’s Deep Colour TFT Active Matrix LCD panel allows Blue Ray and HD-DVD Discs to be viewed at their highest possible resolution. Its anti-glare, hard coated surface and 6.5ms response time ensures a seamless video image.
Faroudja® DCDi® (Directional Correlation De-interlacing) with 10-bit video processing improves picture quality by eliminating jagged edges (jaggies) along diagonal lines. Faroudja’s TrueLife™ processing enhancement uses non-linear algorithms to enhance the small details and colours in images, and improve depth perception by sharpening large edges without introducing visual artefacts or distortion. The overall result is a richer, more pleasing, high-definition picture.
The 420’s Advanced Colour Management (ACM-3D) function, which is active through special viewing modes such as “cinema” or “vivid colour”, provides superior colour tone and luminance control, giving lifelike flesh tonality and dynamic video quality.
An integrated 3D worldwide video decoder allows for universal support and compatibility with all global video standards and inputs. Additionally, with 10-bit ADC and Faroudja Intellicomb® 3D adaptive comb filtering, standard-resolution video conversion artefacts are minimized, optimising image resolution.
High Definition PIP (picture-in-picture) and PBP (picture-by-picture) also allows two sources to be viewed simultaneously, either as a picture insert or split image.
The PD420’s meticulously crafted and diamond polished brushed aluminium bezel frame is finished with five coats of premium-grade black lacquer and a final automotive-grade clear coating. The bezel’s profile (similar to a picture frame) also reduces frame reflections, further enhancing the viewing experience. Whether active or not, the PD420 will blend beautifully with its surroundings.
