Whilst it's possible to describe a lot of the things that can be done with both lighting and home technology, nothing beats being able to touch, feel, hear and see real examples.
Our Home Cinema demo facilities in Thirsk, North Yorkshire feature a large array of world leading products from leading lighting, audio and video manufacturers.
A stunning example of this is the main cinema room which features anamorphic projection using Sim2 projectors, ArtCoustic and Genelec speakers driven by Lexicon audio processing and an acoustically transparent masked screen from Screen Research. Lighting is courtesy of Lutron Homeworks. The cinema also features the latest in room correction technology from Audyssey and the amazing Kaleidescape system
Like the rest of the showroom, our Home Cinema is controlled by AMX Modero touch panels and RTI remote controls.
The Home Cinema has been redesigned in 2008 to demonstrate the technique of flush mounting speakers. We have mounted a trio of Genelec HT312 and two Genelec HTS3 subs in a false wall filled with acoustic insulation material. The whole wall is then covered with an acoustically transparent material - in this case in a dark, dramatic red. The result is spectacular. We get extremely high audio performance coupled with great aesthetics. The masking system on the screen coupled with the Kaleidescape system and AMX control means we can show 2.35:1 and 16:9 content exactly as the makers intended it to be seen. So it's a great location for watching sport on the big screen and the latest blockbuster movies. To see what that means in practice, just click on the 2 images on this page. The first is a shot from a movie with a 2.35:1 aspect ratio, the second is a shot of the Euro 2008 final output in 16:9. Both fill the projection screen available to them with no black bars at the top or sides Our seminar "A Practical Guide to Creating a Home Cinema" given at the Northern Home Building and Renovating Show in Harrogate in November can be found here - Cinema Design Presentation
