AMX announced a slew of new developments at the CEDIA Expo in Denver including a new integrated multiroom audio system called Tango and a new door entry system. However, our favourite has to be the new 5.2" wireless panel - the Modero MVP5200i. These new panels are shipping in limited quantities now.
We've taken delivery of our demonstration models and have been testing them against a variety of different systems; from simple Home Cinema control to whole house automation. The screen is bright, wireless connectivity robust and the battery life is excellent. Used with a product like the Imerge MS5000 server it puts full control of a DVD and audio library in the palm of your hand. The combination of the battery life and the quality of the screen makes it the ideal controller for a multiroom audio system. Available in gloss white and gloss black, it offers the power and flexibility you'd expect from AMX in a new, smaller package
The MVP-5200i provides fast, power-efficient processing – supporting up to eight hours of continuous use and four days of standby time – while its 5.2" widescreen delivers the highest resolution of any AMX MVP Touch Panel – 800 x 480 WVGA (Wide Video Graphic Array) at 180 DPI (Dots Per Inch). It supports JPEG and PNG images, as well as streaming motion-JPEG video, and can play MP3 and WAV audio files. The ultra-compact MVP-5200i weighs 1.2 pounds and is only 0.8" thick. It features an integrated kickstand; wireless mobility (802.11b/g); digital, full-duplex intercom for panel-to-panel communication throughout a home, business or campus; and a navigation wheel for levels and functions. It also incorporates the highest wireless network security standards, including WEP, WPA, WPA2, EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS and PEAP.
