Morning sunlight pouring in through beautifully dressed windows, a dinner table softly lit by a host of small candles, a curving bathroom wall magically washed with light from a concealed lighting cove. These are examples of lighting that really transform the mood or feel of a room and all of which can be achieved without investing in “mood lighting” systems
When we talk about “mood lighting”, we think we’ve got a different view to a lot of home technology companies. For us, moods can be created by great lighting – well designed, carefully planned and executed. Lighting can be one of the biggest factors in determining the mood of a room and how comfortable, pleasant or practical it is to use. That’s why we start our design process with the questions about “How are going to use this space?” We aim to produce flexible spaces e.g. a family kitchen that can be the heart of the home, a great cooking environment, flexible party space and the ideal location for a late night romantic supper. Lighting can help change the size, mood and feel of any space and that’s what we strive to achieve.
Lighting can help change the size, mood and feel of any space and that’s what we strive to achieve With all that said, where do mood lighting systems fit in? Well, we think they’re incredibly useful and powerful and we use lighting controls systems extensively in our schemes. If you’ve invested in good lighting then a well planned and programmed control system will help you get the most from it. It will make it easy to use and easy to enjoy but it depends on having the lighting scheme right. A mood lighting system controlling a rectangular grid of downlighters will give you control of a rectangular grid of downlighters, but it won’t give you much more and it certainly won’t automatically give you spaces that you can alter the mood of with the flick of a switch We work with a variety of manufacturers to ensure that you have a system that supports the lighting design and makes it a pleasure to use. That means we do the detailed work to ensure that a scheme utilising a variety of different technologies – LED, fluorescent, halogen, cold cathode or xenon - will work properly and deliver the results that you are looking for. Whilst we are independent, we work particularly closely with Rako as they offer a high level of technical support in helping us deliver schemes that are exactly what our clients want. We love lighting control systems because we love great lighting…and the fact is that great lighting is delivered by much more that putting in a control system. Once you've got great lighting a lighting control system is the best way to manage it.
