Discreet Speakers

Ceiling speakers

Ceiling speakers are a mainstay of Custom Installation particularly for multiroom audio systems. Visually they are unobtrusive with low profile bezels that can be colour matched with ceilings. Quality varies widely from "contractor" grade models - suitable for ambient background music in commercial developments to high performance models suitable for use in smaller home cinemas. We use models from Speakercraft, Proficient, Triad and Genelec.

In-wall speakers

Because they are more in line of sight, in-wall speakers are more visually obtrusive and we tend to use them less. However they are very suitable for certain applications such as pools or cinemas. Models such as Speakercraft's AIM range offer directional adjustment behind flush mounted grilles for improved accuracy. Triad and Genelec supply us with extremely high performance models for home cinema use

Plaster in-wall speakers

Plaster in-wall speakers take discretion to a different level. We use specialist products from Amina to deliver good quality audio that is totally invisible. We have a smaller demonstration room in our showroom that features an Amina 5.1 setup (teamed with an Velodyne in-wall sub) and the results are fantastic.

The speakers themselves are backed by an excellent manufacturer warranty though we've never had a problem with one in a customer install. More recently Amina have introduced additional levels of protection for all models in the range for added peace of mind

Discreet subwoofers

Subs can be quite ugly brutes of things. Yet to deliver the impact of films there's nothing to beat separate subwoofers. It goes further than this though, the combination of subs and satellite speakers for audio can give better results than can be achieved with "full range" speakers. Our demo rooms all feature in-wall subs (treated in different ways). The Velodyne sub in the smaller media room is a revolutionary design with a vertical firing driver for maximum throw and minimal vibration to reproduce the most demanding home cinema and music with authority, accuracy and low distortion.

Flush Mounting and Acoustically Transparent Fabric Walls

One development we're excited about is the combination of flush mounting speakers into false walls and covering them in an acoustically transparent fabric. The benefits are twofold. The construction of the false wall can be optimised for acoustic performance and the finish can add a dramatic "accent" wall to a room. The result is extremely high performance with a very discreet finish.
